Hair Journal: 9 Months Natural!

So this natural hair journey is not easy as others may portray. I decided to chop my hair sometime towards the end of last year. Although I dilly-dallied for a bit, I actually did it on 1st January 2013 as part of my new years resolution. My hairdresser had refused to cut my hair and was on the verge of tears so I walked into the barbers next door and cut off one side. With that swift move, my hairdresser was forced to shave the rest of my head.

I immediately braided the next day as I researched (mainly YouTube) on how to style my TWA. Since then, I have mostly had my hair 'open' and if you are an avid reader of the blog, you can tell I have had plenty of i-just-dont-give-a-hoot bad hair days. I thank God for my job as we do not have a dress code and this gives me the opportunity to pull off whatever I want, and i do mean whatever!

So its been 9 months and I have gotten to the stage where I am looking forward to taking better care of my hair. I am glad I have never gotten the temptation to retouch my hair and I believe that my hair would be healthier & longer had I been more patient and dedicated.

The picture was taken after undoing my three strand braids (matuta) and my hair is a bit stretched out. I normally do twist outs but my hair shrinks a lot and always looks shorter. Anyway, feel free to comment below and share about your hair journey! So here's to better hair care, more length & thickness!!

A touch of Red!

Hi guys, this was my OOTD from yesterday. I really, really love black and I can easily wear all black any day but I guess I don't want to always look like I am in mourning so I always try to throw in a dash of colour wherever possible.

This was me yesterday at work. Been on holiday for the past three weeks and now I am back to school this week. It feels as though we just closed school and now we are back.... Maybe that's why I feel so tired even before the semester begins!! Lol! Anyway, happy mid-week ya'll!

The Muriithi's Wedding!

Yes, it is clearly wedding season. I attended one of my girlfriends wedding this past Saturday in Karen. Her theme was blue & yellow, which was such an amazing selection for the garden themed event. The decor was beautiful, especially the gazebo that was built by the brides dad for her special day! How sweet! The bridal party walked down to the amazing live performance by Elani, who recently launched their debut solo. Check out the link for more details on the talented band and their amazing new single!

The beautiful bridesmaids in a colorful yellow! The roman pillars was such an amazing touch!

I adored the flower girls dresses! The intricate detail on the back blew me away & their mum's brocade dress was also tres chic!

And finally a picture taken during the very emotional exchange of the vows.  The couple wrote their own vows which was just beautiful. I was so happy to be a part of their big day.

So I did not take any pictures of my outfit seeing that my battery died (blogger nightmare), but I was glad that I was able to capture at least one half of the event! Have a great week ahead and thanks for reading!

Colour for the Cheetah!

Hey, this was the outfit that I wore yesterday. I loved the pop of colour from the bag for the brown, black and camel outfit that I already had on! Plus I love how the skirt buttons match the cheetah print! Anyway, have a great day and thank you for reading!

WoolWorth's 500/= SALE!

Hey Guys, so yesterday I saw a friend (thank you Julie Mwamburi) posting on Facebook about a KShs. 500 sale at WoolWorths and since I am close to Westgate, I decided to go check it out. This was around 2.30pm during my lunch break but I couldn't believe that the sale items were going for 500 bob!!
I asked the sales ladies like sixty times if the sale was for real lol!! I know I must have been a tad annoying but it was unbelievable!!!! Apparently the store was jam packed in the morning with loads of shoppers but I am grateful that I still managed to bag this great items at a total cost of KShs. 2000!!!

Thank you WoolWorths!
